HELLO FRIENDS!

The following advice is what I have found to be the best method of caring for stained-glass pieces. If you're uncertain of how to care for your piece, head over to my contact page and drop me a note with your questions or concerns and I'll be happy to get back to you.

GENERAL STAINED-GLASS CARE
Your stained-glass item is fragile and should be handled with care. It is best displayed in an area with minimal contact or where it can’t be easily bumped into. Always use a screw in hook or a nail to hang your piece. Suction cups are never recommended as they can fail, leaving you with a damaged piece. Should you choose to use one, please check and clean it often to make sure it is secure.

The stained-glass piece you have purchased has been cleaned, then completely protected with a wax sealer. We are relentless in cleaning the piece before it is sealed. However, from time to time, solder or lead will oxidize and leave a whitish substance on its surface. Gently wash with warm water and dawn dish soap. Do not use any abrasive material or chemical cleaners on any piece of stained glass.

Twice a year, re-seal the piece so that it’s protected from tarnish. Glass sealer is available at stained glass supply stores, but it’s expensive. A good quality car wax that contains carnauba wax will work just as well. I spray the wax on a soft rag and then polish the metal and glass surfaces followed by a soft dry rag to buff it.

DISCLAIMER
Stained glass pieces are put together with solder that contains lead. Even though each piece is sealed when it’s finished, I always suggest that you wash your hands with soap and warm water after cleaning/ handling any stained-glass piece. Lead is a health issue when inhaled or ingested. Washing your hands after handling it is considered sufficient precautions to prevent unwanted exposure.
